PARIS, April 16 (Reuters) – The French Banking Federation said on Wednesday that French and German banks were studying the possibility of setting up a European credit card to rival U.S. giants Visa and MasterCard.
“Given their importance in terms of their market share of bank card transactions, the main French banks within the French Banking Federation and some big German banks have got ready to examine together the feasibility of an European card system,” the French organisation said in a statement.
